Citroën is unleashing a new contender for the 2011 World Rally Championship – the DS3 Citroën WRC. The hotly anticipated replacement for the multi-championship winning WRC C4 its global public debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show to make.
Aggressive, dynamic, and packed with “creative technology” which represents the efforts of the DS3 WRC Citroën Racing to drive the performance to the limit during its development, while compliance with the new FIA rules. After six WRC manufacturer and seven consecutive drivers’ title for Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena, Citroën is out to extend their winning streak with the DS3 WRC.
More compact than its predecessor, the Citroën DS3 WRC offers the same powerful production lines such as DS3, although they developed through the vents and aerodynamic parts to improve road holding at high speed are emphasized. Under the hood, turbocharged 300 hp 1.6-liter direct-injection engine is designed from the start of Citroën Racing Finish. The four-wheel gear has a six-speed sequential gearbox and front and rear mechanical differentials.
DS3 WRC is designed to limit the budget to compete for the WRC. The new FIA rules prohibit expensive materials such as titanium and carbon fiber and standardize certain components such as turbochargers and limit the changes that the vehicle can be made throughout his life. Rally still remains a great testing ground for new driving advancements in vehicle technology.
The icy stages of the Swedish Rally in February 2011 is expected to give the model of his first impression of competitive action. Two teams – Sébastien Loeb / Daniel Elena and Sébastien Ogier / Julien Ingrassia – have been already confirmed for the 2011 World Rally Championship.
